Regional Academia Opening Commemorative Web Lecture "History Lecture on Kamakura-dono"
A course that introduces the historical sites of famous places in Kanagawa Prefecture, where the Genpei War and the Kamakura Shogunate were born from the end of the Heian period to the beginning of the Kamakura period, which is the background of the NHK Taiga drama currently being aired. By explaining the historical background and the figures of Hojo Yoshitoki and the Gokenins, we aim to learn the history from familiar areas.

It traces the rise and fall of the Taira administration, which was the forerunner of the samurai administration, and the process by which Minamoto no Yoritomo became the commander of the samurai as "Kamakura-dono" and established the administration.

Born in 1960 in Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture. After graduating from the Literature Department of Rikkyo University, became an English teacher at a prefectural high school. When he was at Odawara High School, he was in charge of the editorial committee of the 100-year history. Since then, he has served as the chairman of the Odawara High School Alumni Association Archives Committee, and as the editor-in-chief of the 100-year history and 120-year history.
Mr. Akihisa Shibuya
(Professor Emeritus, Yamanashi Prefectural University)
Biography:
Born in Matsuda Town, Kanagawa Prefecture in 1956. Graduated from Chuo University Faculty of Law in 1980, joined Mitsubishi Bank, and completed graduate school at University of Tsukuba in 2008. PhD (law). After retiring from the bank in 2009, he became a professor at the Faculty of International Policy at Yamanashi Prefectural University. After retiring in March 2022, he will become the representative of the Regional Academia Research Practice Organization. His specialty is civil law, but he also researches the sports history of his grandfather, Toshimitsu Shibuya. A related book is "How the Hakone Ekiden Course Was Created: A Consideration for Ekiden History Research Through Toshimitsu Shibuya" (2019).
