In this course, we will take a bird's-eye view of the Kamakura period from "Azuma Kagami" as a historical material, and examine its compilation process and its characteristics from various angles. This course introduces famous historical sites in Kanagawa Prefecture, which served as the stage for the Genpei War and the birth of the Kamakura Shogunate, from the late Heian period to the early Kamakura period, which is the historical background of the NHK Taiga drama currently being aired. By explaining the historical background and the personalities of Yoshitoki Hojo and his vassals, we aim to learn about the history of the region around us.
